Teddy Bear and Turkey

This design is an excellent example of the flexibility you have using Cliptures clipart for creating scrapbook pages. The same image was used in the Thanksgiving Teddy Bears scrapbook page but this time the image is enlarged and cropped to fill the bottom of the page. The page works well by itself or makes a great complimentary page to the previous idea.

The teddy bear image is imported into a layout program and scaled to size. The headline text is created and scaled to size also. The page is printed and the image and text are cut out from the page. The image, text, and photos are positioned on the background paper and the bottom of the image is trimmed away.

Supplies:

- Cliptures: Clipart from Cliptures #17 Teddy Bears 1

- White paper for printing layout, brown or orange paper for background sheet and a light yellow or other complimentary colored paper for the inner background sheet.

- Scrapbooking glue or other acid free adhesive.

- Craft knife, cutting mat and a ruler for cutting out and cropping the image.

- Decorative edge scrapbook scissors for cutting photo frames.

Directions:

1. Start a new document in your layout program. Make the document wide instead of tall so that you can scale the image to a wider size.

2. Import the teddy bear with the turkey image from Vol. 17 and scale it to about 7" tall by 8" wide.

3. Create the text for the page and color it to compliment the color of the background paper.

Note: Because the image and text are trimmed from the paper, their positioning in the layout program isn't particularly important. Just be sure to leave enough room between the image and text so they can be trimmed with an even border around each one. (See Paper Saver tip.)

4. Print the layout on white paper.

5. Using scissors, or a craft knife and cutting mat, cut out the image and text leaving an even amount of white space all the way around each. (This is much easier than trying to trim right up to the edges and it creates a nice design too!)

6. Trim your photos to their final sizes.

7. Cut the frames for the photos with decorative edge scissors.

8. Before actually gluing anything down, arrange the photos, text, and image on the background sheet. Once your satisfied with the positioning of all the elements, glue Cliptures image in place.

Note: At this point the image has not been cropped and will be extending off the paper.

9. With the image attached, turn the background paper over and place it on top of your cutting mat. Using a craft knife and ruler, trim off the part of the image that extends off the background paper.

10. Arrange and attach the rest of the elements to the background page with scrapbook adhesive.

That's it!
