Christmas Scrapbook Page

Home for the Holidays

The Cliptures "Fun Borders" clipart volumes make great scrapbook page borders just as they are, but they also make great borders for individual photos on a page!

For this design, the main body of the page is designed in a layout program. The layout is printed, the edges are trimmed, and the trimmed page is attached to a background paper. By cutting out the areas inside the 2 borders, your photographs can be attached from behind the paper instead of being intricately cut and attached to the front.

Materials:

scrapbooking idea Christmas

- Clipart: Borders from Cliptures #39 Fun Borders 4, Holly from Cliptures #40 Fun Accents 4

- Paper: White for printing the layout, and red for the background sheet.

- Scrapbooking glue or adhesive.

- Craft knife and cutting mat for cutting out the photo areas inside the borders.

- Paper cutter or straight edge ruler for trimming inner layout sheet.

Directions:
1. Start a new document in your layout program.

2. Import the 2 borders from Vol. 39 into your layout document. Scale each one to about 5" tall. (This size works pretty well for 3 1/2 x 5" photos.)

3. Rotate each border slightly. Place one in the top left area of your layout and one in the lower right.

4. Import the holly image from Vol. 40 and scale it to about 2 1/4" tall. Place the image in the upper right corner of the layout.

5. Make a duplicate copy of the holly and rotate it 180 degrees. (see Duplicating Images) Place this copy in the lower left corner of the layout.

6. Add your text to the layout in the upper right and the lower left blank areas.

7. Print the layout on white paper.

8. Trim 3/8" or so from all 4 edges of the printed page.

9. Using a craft knife and cutting mat, cut out the areas inside the borders for your photos.

Tip!
Rather than trying to cut right up to the very edge of the inside of the borders, leave a uniform amount of white area (1/8" or so) inside the designs. This actually gives the finished scrapbook page a nice look!

10. Attach your photos to the back of the sheet with photo corners. (This gives you the option to be able to position your photos just right with out any delicate trimming!)

11. Attach the layout page to the red background sheet.

That's it!
